Okay, I'm not entirely sure if this is the appropriate place to make a plot suggestion. Or if I can make a plot suggestion. If I'm totally off, I apologize.

Right so! I have a plot suggestion concerning mission battle things. It's pretty simple really. I'm interested in seeing a battle with a power/ability swap. Like for example. Say Character A has the ability of super accuracy and has the weapon of a gun, while Character B has the ability of super strength and has an over-sized sword as a weapon. During the battle A gets B's ability of strength and B gets A's ability of accuracy (weapons may/not be included depending on what yous prefer). Add a couple enemies and you get a few kicks and giggles as characters realize their abilities aren't what they're supposed to be.

This would also give characters with no usual skills in fighting a chance to get in on the action for a change and branch out from their usual intelligence specific missions.

I'm not sure if this is something that can be rolled with just yet as I realize battles and missions and things are still being beta'd, so to speak. Also, the issue of weapons. But I would love to see it as a plot of sorts one day.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this. :)

I was wondering if there was a reason apps were screened now. It seems like an odd and sudden choice.

I've found it difficult to engage with the current plot and plot prior to it. As it stands, most of the plots have been reactionary in nature—which was my issue with the Fight With the Romans Plot too. Characters can't do anything to solve it or progress it, only react to the detrimental health effects and seek help from other transports.

If possible, I think some positive ramifications based on the talk the transports had with the Initiative would be welcomed. A transport committee, more transparency, something tangible that shows speaking with the Initiative hasn't been for naught. And happier plots! The mood has been dour for a bit now.

can i ask why the decision to make activity easier was reached?

we've already got a squatting problem.

So, I know we've been working out the kinks with a player plot with my little killer and a couple cop-characters but I had a thought concerning the missions that people get sent back in time to play out. I think I had plurked about it but an idea has come up where the United Earth decides to try to balance things in favor for them - ie, they noticed that people are going all over the place and in time thanks to the chipped people getting involved in missions.

Would it come up where the Initiative would noticed that the United Earth have been changing the past too, and that some unpleasant missions will come up? And on that note, does the Initiative know about the people they've been bringing in more than they let on?

But anyways, the idea was just an unpleasant mission where those involved will have to make a nasty decision in order to keep things moving smoothly - like starting World War II or something.

Hi, guys! For the past few months, the game has been getting pretty big lately and with new applicants coming in every other week, the game has been flooded with continuous intro posts and the like, and it's getting hard to keep up with old tags as well as tagging new people. This is a complaint I've heard from a few people.

I'd like to suggest to maybe switching app rounds to once a month rather than every other week. It'd help players keep up with new people and also help to plan around events so that the new kids could also get in on the plots.

Also, I'm not sure if you guys have one, but there should be an updated plot page, so that newbies (and oldbies) can easily access to see what has happened in the past, OOCly of course. I know there is a wikia that we have, but I feel like that has not been promoted enough to be of use. And maybe there should be a Locations page, so that everyone can easily find the types of places there are for their characters to visit. A lot of these questions are on the FAQ, but not everyone is going to go through the comments to see if their question was answered.

I dislike how tags for dropped characters are switched to the 'dropped characters' tag. It makes it a pain in the ass to find old threads with specific dropped characters. I understand why it's done, but I wish there was an alternative.

Hm, it looks like apps close on 9/1 but AC ends on 9/4. Would it be possible to extend the app period regularly such that someone could app a character whose player has idled out?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-10 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
can you guys please get on fixing the FAQs already? you said you were going to get on that back when HMD came up over a month ago and that place is still difficult navigate.

i think the united earth developing more of a presence in game would also be good. the initiative comes off as incompetent, doesn't inspire faith in those they're supposed to be leading and the lack of united earth's influence in the game makes it seem more like a slice-of-life with occasional trips back through time rather than the post-apocalyptic war-based game i apped into.

lastly, i'd recommend working on communication between mods. you're supposed to function as a team, seeing plurks about how there have been several miscommunications between you guys is not a reassuring sign to your player base.

Not a real suggestion but I noticed that the mission requests page doesn't seem to be in the navigation--or I'm just blind... either way I had trouble finding it!

I was wondering if you guys had any plans to pick up the plot or have some events anytime soon? The game has felt slow to the point of stagnation, at least to me and a few other people.

I made a plurk where I began to talk about my feelings and other people contributed here. It's a pastebin with most of what was discussed. I've been sitting on these feelings for awhile, and it turns out other people had the same concerns.

Basically, we feel that there is not enough knowledge about either the United Earth or the Initiative, which makes it hard for characters to ICly care. Beyond that, it feels like there's either not enough to do within the game setting, or awkward contradictions. Such as Exsilium having no law, but why would a group set up a rebellion on an island and not govern over it?

Anyway, instead of a formal comment trying to lay out what problems we were having, I decided to link the plurk instead.

Alex here is still pretty new to the game, but there's something I'd like to do with him at some point in the future. Just thought I'd run it by you guys before I got too excited. xD

So with what he's learned so far, he's skeptical about the Initiative and their intentions, since there don't seem to be any clear answers anywhere (and Adam has outright said they're incompetent. :V), and Alex is gonna want to get to the bottom of it. This is where his assimilation ability comes in handy. Since he also takes the memories/knowledge of those he absorbs, I was wondering if he could begin picking off random Initiative operatives to gain insight to possibly share with other Transports?

I totally understand if this isn't okay, since this could escalate in unpredictable ways, which is why I'm asking you guys first, but on the other hand though, I'd definitely be alright with OOCly limiting what he learns. I AM VERY FLEXIBLE. LIKE HIS TENDRILS. How large this idea may or may not grow is totally up to you guys, since I'm sure you have your own ideas to put in motion. Either way, your decision will be respected. <33

THANKS FOR READING.

So with the holiday season upon us IRL, I thought it might be kind of fun to do some sort of holiday-themed plot. Not sure what, exactly, but maybe something Christmas/Kwanza/Hanukah/etc or New Year's related. Or even some sort of new, futuristic holiday. Festivus day, anyone?

(Anonymous) 2012-10-13 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Relevant to the above, are there any plans for Halloween style events (trick or treat, masquerade, SUDDENLY BATS etc)? Even if it's not celebrated in the game universe itself, something lighter between plot events could be good.

Recently transports have been rousing up a lot of rabble about how invisible the Initiative's leadership is. As I understood mod announcements after the reminder about world-sapping, the idea is for Exsilium to be more transparent IC, but it seems a lot of characters feel they can't get a voice or become strategists. Could Initiative NPCs be available for PCs to negotiate with, for leadership positions or at least a voice with which to address the Initiative leadership?

I don't have a lot to say on this but I was thinking about the lack of television and radio broadcasts in Exsilium. I thought it might be really neat to have a plot based around that? There could very well be a player plot based around making their own station, but maybe something bigger than that for a main plot. More mind control, conditioning, or maybe a broadcast that alludes to more about United Earth or the Initiative? Something eerie might be pretty fun.

Recently I've seen some worry about the game getting too big and potentially unmanageable for some players. I definitely don't want to discourage newbies from joining, but maybe there could be a period of time when apps are closed (like skipping a cycle) to give things time to settle down. If that doesn't work, why not change the number of apps someone can submit? Instead of two per cycle, make it one. It could decrease the incoming flow and give people a period of time to get comfortable.

Tiny suggestion, really.

Would it be possible to add a timezone category to the contact posts?

At least in my own case, I'm in GMT +8 so coordinating threading times and chatting with players not on my plurk can get a bit tricky, especially if I don't know said other player's timezone and they don't know mine beforehand. I'm thinking adding it may help but I can understand if it would be a hassle to do so.

Thank you :>

The hiatus list on the hiatus/drop page seems to be really out of date. There are still hiatuses listed that occurred in September, and even ones for characters that have since dropped. Which kind of makes it unusable for players to keep track of each other.

Any way it could be cleaned up?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-12 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I like the ideas you've set about limiting the number of apps to 65 each cycle and allowing players to only app one character per cycle, but I think there needs to be a more definitive cap on the amount of characters each player can have in the game.

Right now the rule is that each player can have four characters max, but if they make two activity checks in a row they can app in another character... and another... and another...

I think there should be a cap of four characters max, with no exceptions. At least until the influx of new players gets more under control.

Hey mods, could you perhaps make it possible for players to remove tags from entries? I've seen entries tagged incorrectly with the wrong tag (I do the same mistake sometimes) and it would be really neat if it was possible to fix this without having to request a mod to do it (since it means extra work for you guys too).

Hi,

Is there any way where the IC events are sort of centralized so that people can plot and plan ahead? I am asking because I've bene tagging around and playing for about a month and a half, and I can't seem to find a calendar of what's going to happen when in regards with IC events (for exmaple, I was on semi-hiatus for a few days, I come back to zombies, and I have ... no idea of how this happened or when to even start looking for details on it).

Clicking on the calendar link bering me to a page that is only update to november and seems to contain mainly OOC events like applications opening and closing. I also haven't really founf a tag on the OOC post that is used for mostly that kind of stuff that is not player plots. I don't know if I just don't know where to look, or if it doesn't exist.

Basically, in my other game, the mods put out a calendar each month telling us what will happen and when. I am not saying we necessarily need the same system, but a way to see what is going to happen IC-ly in a centralized place might help?

Thanks!
