(Anonymous) 2012-09-10 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)i think the united earth developing more of a presence in game would also be good. the initiative comes off as incompetent, doesn't inspire faith in those they're supposed to be leading and the lack of united earth's influence in the game makes it seem more like a slice-of-life with occasional trips back through time rather than the post-apocalyptic war-based game i apped into.
lastly, i'd recommend working on communication between mods. you're supposed to function as a team, seeing plurks about how there have been several miscommunications between you guys is not a reassuring sign to your player base.

As far as the United Earth is concerned, there are several plots that we've got planned for the future that serve just that purpose of making them more visible and shifting a more trustworthy competence back to the Initiative.
A note on the post-apocalyptic war-based situation: unfortunately, that is not meant to be the game's setting; the game is set in a dystopian future society, underground, and the missions will range from battle-based, to strategy-based, and to simple "make this event slightly different" scenarios. Not all missions are going to be war-based, and unfortunately, the game is not meant to be post-apocalyptic or war-based. I'm sorry for the misinformation! If something we've stated contradicts that, please let me know and I can get to changing it as soon as possible.
Additionally, thank you for the communication recommendation. That one plurk was posted only as a joke, as the scenario noted in the comments was one where we'd both made a decision that same day on the same subject—which is incredibly rare. I will keep your suggestion in mind! We've just recently established our more central forms of communication and are working together to improve them.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-11 09:11 am (UTC)(link)thank you, that's reassuring.
i understand that but there haven't been many war-based events at all in a game that is about working with a resistance to overthrow a corrupt government. there are different aspects to running a revolution obviously but it's in your game's description that implies there is going to be fighting, along with the other points you mentioned:
Your battalions, your squadrons, and your friends will be grouped together and sent back into time -- to fight in calculated battles, to wage intellectual war in past conflicts. You will manipulate the threads of the past, one event after another. And each time it's all said and done, the government gradually weakens. Each event you twist into the favour of the Initiative -- of Exsilium -- leads us one step closer to the ultimate confrontation, when the government and its army of superhumans is finally too weak to fight.
to be frank, i haven't seen many events that weren't "oh something has messed up because someone has been meddling and your characters are caught in the cross-fire" or "here go alter this detail in the past to change the future" so maybe try to branch out more?
joke or not, this isn't the only time i've seen examples of miscommunication between your mod team and it still reflects badly on your ability to talk to one another. i am glad to hear you're making an effort to fix that. overall you have improved considerably since HMD but there are still things you need to work on.

I do apologize that the FAQ hadn't been taken care of before my other tasks—I'd been trying to prioritize them based on existing player needs, and in order of most frequent concerns (like changing the bottom page directory and the links list to make existing & new pages more accessible). I guess what I'm saying is, I'd done most of those tasks first because they'd been the most frequently requested when I had the downtime to do them.
Hopefully it's easier to parse now, and I'm going to make a point to keep it cleaner and updated with more urgency.
Since we've got some sort of silly plots scheduled as our next ones, I will see about switching it around and setting out one of the more war-based, battle-driven ones instead to shift our focus back to the revolutionary aspect of the game. You've got a good point in that, and having gone back and looked at our most recent plots, we could definitely use ones that have a bigger impact on the game's premise as a whole. I'll talk to everyone else about it and see what we can orchestrate in that vein.
As far as the last bit of the premise that you've pasted goes, re: the ultimate confrontation, that's meant to be endgame. Rather, all of our missions will ultimately lead to the Final Resistance as a major plot event culminating in the game's wrap-up and close. That's not to excuse our current lack of battle-based missions, but I could change a few things to make at least that part a bit more explicit if there were any concerns there, too.
We hoped, with the addition of the mission requests, to give players an opportunity to take part in more missions that were suited to their own likes and dislikes within the game and hopefully that, too, will alleviate some of the slice-of-life feeling that's been taking place and give people the chance to do more war-based missions if they wish.
I'm glad to hear that we've improved, and I hope that you will continue to feel that way. There will always be room for improvement and I always intend to take concerns to heart to help build and improve the game for everyone. It's a trying task, but this game means a lot to me and my moderators and I appreciate all of your feedback with utmost honesty. I never intend to sound flippant, or defensive, or as though I don't care—and I worry that my first reply might have come off that way, so I apologize wholeheartedly and thank you for taking the time to bring this to me.
