Small Group Missions

These are missions for groups of two to eight characters (though there may be some flexibility on that character limit).
Do you want some unexpected forced bonding time? A group training exercise? Here's the place to get that! By requesting a Small Group Mission, you will be given an opportunity for your group of characters to be sent on a mission by the Initiative. These missions will be small in scale compared to the game-wide missions -- a game-wide mission could change the tide of an entire war; these missions will often be seemingly inconsequential, but could potentially have long-reaching effects.

Perhaps your characters will be sent to the French countryside in 1723 with the instructions to raid a carriage and steal a small wooden box inside of it, or to the Reconstruction-Era United States with the instructions to find a certain man and invite him to a bar with the purpose of getting him so drunk that he passes out, or to simply walk into a library in Egypt and collect several scrolls. But perhaps that small wooden box contains an important treaty that is being transported to be signed. Perhaps that man is, in fact, a US senator who will now be late and miss out on voting on a new law. Perhaps those scrolls were housed in the Library of Alexandria and only days away from being destroyed in the fire.

When assigning missions, we will be taking factors such as the size of the group and the particulars of the kind of mission you, as players, want to see your characters on. The more specific you are, the better we can meet your needs!

Solo Missions
Solo Missions are much the same as Small Group Missions, but are undertaken by a single character. You have the option of writing out a solo log about the mission, or simply handwaving it. These missions can be used for character development purposes and/or as a way to explain your character's absence when you go on a hiatus. Please state exactly what you want your character doing for this mission.

Do you have a country, biome, or otherwise specific setting in mind for this mission? <b>Preferred Time Period:</b> Again, this field is optional, but if you have one, please state it here! Double check that your time period is not in conflict with your preferred objective. <b>Preferred Mission Objective:</b> Specific detail is highly suggested. What do you want your characters doing, and why? What objective would they have? What can you see the Initiative wanting? (You don't need to know this so much!) Having a clear idea of the sort of mission you want and what you hope to achieve from it helps us get back to you sooner! General statements like "I'd love murder, please" are not so much helpful; "I'd love to go on a murderous rampage during the Civil War in the United States, on the side of the Rebels" is better, and we can help find the importance of it to the Initiative. <b>Expected Mission Duration:</b> If you have an idea, or would like the mission tailored for something that takes a longer or shorter period of time. Played out mission times don't need to match the actual duration of the mission. That is to say, you may have your characters go on a mission for three months in the past, while only one week to a month passes in the present game time. <b>Additional Notes:</b> Anything else you'd like to add.

Character(s) involved: Caesar Silverloser, Jericho, Gamora, and Oz Vessikins.
Character skillset:

- Caesar is good at: uh, he's just the man with the plan, also his spyglass is incredibly useful for spying and surveying.

- Jericho is good at: being a Teen Titan and having super sideburns???

- Gamora is good at: being a super assassin, fighting, killing, driving things (into buildings?!).

- Oz is good at: being blond, summoning crazy chains and a scythe and fighting.

Preferred Location: I tried so hard and got so far but in the end I could not decide. Sorry.
Preferred Time Period: Also could not decide, but I do have a few suggestions: whenever pirates were at their most active (Caribbean or maybe even Chinese pirates), when the Aztecs moved Montezuma's treasure (or when a prospector led a huge search in the spot it was supposedly moved), maybe something involving Fort Knox, or even something made up from the future.
Preferred Mission Objective: Stealing! Preferably a treasure. Less something that the Initiative needs and maybe more something the Initiative has deemed needs to not be found.
Expected Mission Duration: Most likely 1 to 3 days.
Additional Notes: Caesar, who has taken up working on helping with timeline research (from the jobs page), is trying to wrangle a mission that involves grand theft treasure. He may have promised to pay a dragon a boatload of gold to save the spaceship crew, so, yeah, haha, fun times.

THE MISSION:

The Chinese Seas, 19th Century. The objective is to obtain control of a merchant ship carrying iron ore, gun powder, and various spices that was historically lost to a particularly infamous pirate crew. It's recorded as their only ever win, and the ship itself never returned to port.

The goal is actually to be sent to the merchant ship a day or so before the pirate boarding, survive the pirate battle and get into the pirate hold, and to secure the Treasure of the Nine Kingdoms so that it never returns to Chinese hands. It is indeed gold-plated, and part of a smaller, more modest hoard of gold on board, along with various other goods, spices, and precius stones. There is also a gold plated chamberpot. (Go figure.)

THE FALLOUT:

The permanent loss of this natural treasure inhibits a surge of nationalistic pride that grants more maneuvering room for modern movements after the First World War. Long term effects are unknown.

THE NOTES:

The Initiative will be experimenting with a new technology during this mission. All participants will be given reusable tracking devices, that bring back inorganic materials within a foot radius of their general reach. If they detect another transmitter within range, they link networks and expand their radius. Select and choose, guys!
