Small Group Missions

These are missions for groups of two to eight characters (though there may be some flexibility on that character limit).
Do you want some unexpected forced bonding time? A group training exercise? Here's the place to get that! By requesting a Small Group Mission, you will be given an opportunity for your group of characters to be sent on a mission by the Initiative. These missions will be small in scale compared to the game-wide missions -- a game-wide mission could change the tide of an entire war; these missions will often be seemingly inconsequential, but could potentially have long-reaching effects.

Perhaps your characters will be sent to the French countryside in 1723 with the instructions to raid a carriage and steal a small wooden box inside of it, or to the Reconstruction-Era United States with the instructions to find a certain man and invite him to a bar with the purpose of getting him so drunk that he passes out, or to simply walk into a library in Egypt and collect several scrolls. But perhaps that small wooden box contains an important treaty that is being transported to be signed. Perhaps that man is, in fact, a US senator who will now be late and miss out on voting on a new law. Perhaps those scrolls were housed in the Library of Alexandria and only days away from being destroyed in the fire.

When assigning missions, we will be taking factors such as the size of the group and the particulars of the kind of mission you, as players, want to see your characters on. The more specific you are, the better we can meet your needs!

Solo Missions
Solo Missions are much the same as Small Group Missions, but are undertaken by a single character. You have the option of writing out a solo log about the mission, or simply handwaving it. These missions can be used for character development purposes and/or as a way to explain your character's absence when you go on a hiatus. Please state exactly what you want your character doing for this mission.

Do you have a country, biome, or otherwise specific setting in mind for this mission? <b>Preferred Time Period:</b> Again, this field is optional, but if you have one, please state it here! Double check that your time period is not in conflict with your preferred objective. <b>Preferred Mission Objective:</b> Specific detail is highly suggested. What do you want your characters doing, and why? What objective would they have? What can you see the Initiative wanting? (You don't need to know this so much!) Having a clear idea of the sort of mission you want and what you hope to achieve from it helps us get back to you sooner! General statements like "I'd love murder, please" are not so much helpful; "I'd love to go on a murderous rampage during the Civil War in the United States, on the side of the Rebels" is better, and we can help find the importance of it to the Initiative. <b>Expected Mission Duration:</b> If you have an idea, or would like the mission tailored for something that takes a longer or shorter period of time. Played out mission times don't need to match the actual duration of the mission. That is to say, you may have your characters go on a mission for three months in the past, while only one week to a month passes in the present game time. <b>Additional Notes:</b> Anything else you'd like to add.

THE MISSION:

Kido and Kano are being sent to 1888 Japan in order to, basically, psychologically off-balance the new members of the Privy Council, tasked with researching and drafting Japan's new constitution. They may do this in whichever series of methods they choose, so long as their efforts result in the council making no headway in their task for at least two weeks beginning from the day they are dropped off. They will be given clothing and enough money for food and lodging, as well as proper documentation, and a short briefing beforehand on each of the more prominent council members. The most notable of which happen to have a young daughter interested in having more fun outside of her parents' wishes, another with new artwork in his home, another with - yes - two beautiful but friendly little dogs he dotes upon, another with a growing appreciation for German beer, and so on.

THE FALLOUT:

The transition period here is especially delicate, with the Privy council positioned to advise the Emperor amongst their other duties. However, their ensuing distraction owing to an improbable series of personal life crises of varying degrees means they will miss a small article of legislation an anonymous member of the government was trying to get signed. This article will, centuries later, be the crux of a court case in which a prominent ecological engineer is tried for what amounts to 'doing things his bosses didn't like'. With his release comes a series of ecologically friendly energy-saving devices that the Initiative then hopes to gather up in order to relieve the strain on their current resources.
