New Orleans, 2020. There have been massive illegal draining of swamplands in Louisana, with much of the activity routing through New Orleans. It's right about Mardi Gras time, and you have been charged with tracking down the later named agents put on trail for what happened historically -- the peat they'd been pulling ends up catching fire, burning down a significant portion of the New Orleans Jazz National Park, and crossing over into territory held by people. Locate the peat, trip up the agents, and get the peat back to Exsilium.

The fire is prevented, and the early end ot the trade allows the actual marshland where the peat's been pulled from after the water was pumped out to renormalize over time. The local area's land does not get developed over on the same schedule, and Lousiana's financial state remains more stable. An astronaut from the region never had the horrific experience of the fire in her youth to cause an almost instinctive fear of oxygen loss (such as one finds while in a fire) that later caused a recoverable system error to kill her and three other astronauts on the International Space Station. ISS press remains in the green for longer. Space travel continues to be better supported by the US and fellow nation's governments.
